Hello my name is Mr. Reyes,
I work as a Behavioral Intervention Specialist at Lowell Community Charter Public school. On May 23, 2022, I started my favorite part of my day, greeting students as they got off the school bus and dropped off by their parents. As the morning progressed I noticed a pain in my chest. I didn’t think anything of it and continued working knowing that the kids needed my support. But by afternoon the pain worsened and I went to the Emergency Room. Once there, based on preliminary test results, they confirmed something was wrong and I was immediately admitted to the hospital. They did multiple diagnostic procedures and concluded that I'd had a heart attack. It was terrifying. After two nights at Newton Wellesley Hospital, I was transferred to Mass General Hospital for a specialized procedure and remained there for two more nights.
During my stay at the hospital I was advised that I cannot work for the next few weeks. I was denied Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML) due to me just moving to Massachusetts. I have no other source of income while I recover from these medical issues and have two daughters to take care of. I hope that you can find it in your heart to donate anything you can, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
