MRCS TEACHER NEEDS YOUR HELP
The entire Montessori Community knows and loves our amazing gym teacher, Amanda Fellows. What you probably do not know is that Amanda has been in a courageous battle with cancer for over a year - all the while continuing to provide fun and energetic gym lessons, remotely and in-person, AND caring for her own lovely family - her fabulous husband Eric and her two adorable pre-school girls. It has been A LOT - and she has done it all with a sunny disposition, enthusiasm, and optimism that has been inspiring for all of us at school.
After several years of difficult and draining treatment, Amanda has recently received more disheartening news - her battle has turned to
fighting a new condition - aplastic anemia. This is a rare condition in which the body stops producing enough new blood cells and can develop as a result of bone marrow damage. The damage may be present at birth or occur after exposure to radiation, chemotherapy, toxic chemicals, or infection.
This is a chronic condition that Amanda will face for the foreseeable future and will be treated on an ongoing basis. While Montessori provides medical coverage and time-off policies, Amanda and her young family face medical co-pays, treatment, and care expenses for many years.
We are asking our Montessori community and her many friends to assist Amanda and her family by donating to a fund that will help offset those expenses over the years to come.
Please give as generously as possible to a beloved staff member who pours energy and love into every child in our school with creativity and kindness.
Thank You!
