Zach's Accident

As most of you know Zach was in a horrible motorcycle accident last Sunday. We are so thankful and so blessed with the out pour of love and prayers we have received from family and friends this week. (And my parents for taking the girls so I could be with him in the meantime) We truly cannot thank y’all enough. We have felt them all week. It’s been an absolute nightmare and whirlwind of ups and downs. But after being told he shouldn’t be alive, he is expected to make a full recovery, it will just take some time. Since being here he has had to have 3 blood transfusions, surgery to place 7 metal plates in his chest from rib fractures and flail chest, pneumothorax, punctured lungs, staples to his head, a broken hand, and a broken thumb in the other, as well as lots of road rash. With every step we take forward we take a couple backwards,

We have had lots of people ask how you could help and at that time, we didn’t know what we needed or what it would look like. As of now he will not be returning to work for several weeks. Once he is discharged from the hospital (we don’t know when that will be either due to many different things) he will need a wound care in home nurse to come and help with dressing changes, which our insurance doesn’t cover, since he doesn’t have use of his hands. It will also help cover the cost of travel for me back and forth to Florida to take care for him. As you know I am in nursing school in CO, so I have been traveling back and forth since the accident.

If you feel the need to contribute you are more than welcome, but please don’t feel obligated. I thought this would be the easiest way to help. Just know we appreciate each and every one of you. We truly are blessed with our support system. Thank you again for all the calls, texts, FaceTimes, goodies for our girls, and messages..

PS: When driving, watch out for motorcycles, you don’t know whose spouse or daddy that is! We are so thankful he is still alive today!
