Mrs. Beverly Reliford Covid Support Efforts

Beverly Reliford is a veteran child care
professional and, a community outreach
activist. She dedicated her life to the
children she has serviced and sadly paid
the ultimate price with her health.

Although her family followed the CDC
recommendations, there were clients for
whatever reason thought they were
exempt from wearing their mask. On
January 20, 2021 we had to check my mom into Kaiser hospital.

She was having difficulty breathing and,
was extremely fatigued. Hours later we
found out she had covid, she was moved
from the E.R. to a covid unit; and then from the covid unit to the I.C.U to be placed in a medicated coma and, put on a ventilator;
everything was happening so fast, there
was no time to think we had to make split
second decisions in the fight to save her life

She was in coma for a month and, no one
could tell us what state she would be in
once she was to awaken. Once fully
awaken from her coma she was not as alert and responsive as her care team hoped she would be, they told us she could have
anything from brain damage, being bed
ridden to having any little set back and,
death being put back on the table. She has come so far but, still has a way to go.

She remembers who’s she is in fact the first thing she said was
“did the kids come today”, she remember
her birthday and, family so all signs points
to no brain damage on that end. She is not ventilator dependent. She can move her
fingers and toes but, she’s so weak from
being in bed for so long she will have to
learn how to use her muscles again. From
learning how to push air out her lungs to
get her voice activated, learning how to eat again (swallowing), sitting up and using her arms, hands and legs.

I hope I explained everything clearly, I have no clue how to do this. I’m setting this up
because my moms loved ones and friends
have been requesting I do so for a while
and, I just did not know if we would ever
make it to the point; that it’s clear my mom will be coming home.

We are very overwhelmed by the love,
encouragement, support and offerings of
help we have received. We thank you all so much!

prices we are being told her rehab program would cost along with her wages she lost
during her fight against covid.
