Mrs. Lieu Nguyen: Tragic Loss & Family Crisis Fund

On Sunday, July 14th, 2024, our community was shaken by a tragic loss. Mrs. Lieu Nguyen, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away in a devastating car accident on I-81 S in Silver Spring Township.

I'm creating this GoFundMe on behalf of Anh Nguyen, Mrs. Nguyen's eldest son and my dear friend of many years. Every visit to their home was marked by Mrs. Nguyen's warm hospitality and delicious Vietnamese cuisine.

The Nguyen family immigrated to the US in 2010, settling in Harrisburg, PA. Through hard work and determination, they moved from subsidized housing to purchasing their first home in 2014 - a testament to their pursuit of the American dream.

Devout Catholics, the Nguyens prioritized their faith, attending church weekly. For Mrs. Nguyen, it was a cherished time for spiritual reflection.

The accident that claimed Mrs. Nguyen's life was horrific. A trailer truck crossed the median, crashing into two vehicles. Mrs. Nguyen, seated in the rear, bore the brunt of the impact and tragically lost her life at the scene.

Even more heartbreaking, Mrs. Nguyen's eldest daughter and 4-year-old grandchild were also in the vehicle. As of now, the young child is fighting for recovery in the Intensive Care Unit at Hershey Hospital. The child suffered multiple fractures, including a broken leg, hip, and facial bones. The pain this little one must be enduring is unimaginable.

Mrs. Nguyen's eldest daughter is also hospitalized with severe facial and neck injuries. Her condition remains critical, and she faces a long, challenging road to recovery. The family is torn between grief for their lost mother and grandmother, and deep concern for their hospitalized loved ones.

This hardworking immigrant family now faces overwhelming funeral costs and mounting medical expenses. While insurance may eventually provide some relief, the immediate financial burden is immense. Your support, no matter the amount, would be deeply appreciated during this difficult time.
