An upstanding friend, mother, grandmother, and longtime teacher and Indigenous Advocate of School District 23 recently lost her family home to the Mount Law fire. This is the second home she has lost due to fire, and the thought of rebuilding for a second time must be beyond overwhelming. This time, she will be rebuilding on her own, as she lost her longtime spouse last September. Further, her elderly mother who lives with her, is currently experiencing serious health issues.
During her time in SD23, she has supported children and their families to an extent that goes above and beyond. She graciously donates her time and personal resources to people in her community and has been well known for her generosity. Now she needs help to rebuild her life.
We are asking for financial assistance to help her in the same way she has helped so many others. If you are unable to help financially and are a teacher, any resource/lesson support would be greatly appreciated. Sadly, in the fire she not only lost personal items, but many of her teaching resources. (If you are a teacher, you know how devastating that can be after accruing things for your students and the classroom environment for many years.)
She's looking for a furnished home in the West Kelowna area, including Barona Beach.
