Mrs. Serna's Financial Support

Hello Hays CISD Community!

I am Andrea Pinon, a parent at Science Hall Elementary and Chapa Middle School. When I heard about this accident, my heart sunk, shattered! When I heard the updates, I felt like "my calling" was to jump in somewhere and help out in anyway I could think of! I saw a post on FB that led me to Mrs. Serna! Thank you Lord!

As most to all of you know, Mrs. Serna is a Pre-K Teacher at TGES and was in the bus accident that occurred on March 22, 2024 in Bastrop County. Mrs. Serna was the one who was helping the students off the bus, dragging her leg behind her(is what I have been told), getting the students to safety! She had to be carried away by EMS in order for them to examine her! Mrs. Serna wanted to make sure her students were safe before she left them.

Medical Update:

Mrs. Serna has 4 broke bones in her back and will be out of the classroom(work) for quite some time to allow her body to heal properly. She will have MANY follow up appointments and such post hospital release.

With this being said, I am trying to help her out and raise enough money for her finances.

Mrs. Serna would like to add,

Her pay will be docked even if she gets workers Comp. Her pay will be lower till new contract happens in Sept so financial wise, I would like to get her “set up” to where she doesn’t have to stress about returning RIGHT BACK to work. I want her to be able to heal properly so she can get back to teaching her babies.
