Artist Statement:

The Chain/ The Veil, is a performance piece that represents the pain and the weight I have experienced, and the immense need to remove this weight, this veil. Not only so I can see the world as it is, without the chains of my life pulling me down, but also to free myself of these shackling self perceptions. The 12,342 hand made jump rings were assembled into one continuous chain and then attached to my face, symbolize each day of my life. The good, the bad and the ugly. My past choices and my past experiences not only haunt me, but continue to pull me down, and I know I will not be able to move forward in life until this chain, this veil has been pulled away. Even though this process of removal, acceptance and forgiveness, can be painful, I understand now how necessary it is for me to move forward, forgive myself and begin to heal.
