Hi everyone, we are collecting funds to honor our friend, Charlotte Obeng. Funds are being raised to go to her mother for memorial costs, etc.
We appreciate all the support.
Thank you.
We would also like to share a note about her.
Charlotte Obeng was our dear friend and colleague. Hailing from Accra, Ghana, she came to us in Muncie, IN by way of Ball State’s Information and Communication Sciences (CICS).
She is very distinguished and highly educated, receiving two Master’s degrees. Her first, in actuary studies and her second in Information and Communication Technology. She had also directed a non-profit, and had her own business.
She had a myriad of talents and strengths, but the cornerstone of us, was her bright, cheery smile, her kindness, the outpouring of love that she showed to everyone, and the community values that she lived by.
Many of us came to know her in a brief one year stint of CICS graduate school, but she grew fond of us, rather quickly, and of us her.
In just under a year, Charlotte was awarded the CICS Tally Service Award 2022-2023, served as mentor in Near Peer Mentoring, gave an Ignite talk at the 2023 CICS’s women working in technology, worked as a web design graduate assistant, and served as a student researcher of the Action Research Collective.
Post graduate school, Charlotte worked as Web Designer at Ball State and was an information Technology adjunct at Ivy Tech Community College- Muncie. She also completed a Racial Justice and Accessibility fellowship at Count Us Indiana in Fall 2023.
Charlotte also sat on a number of boards, and she had just been sworn into the Count Us Indiana board of directors at the end of May 2024.
These were only her professional doings. Outside of this, Charlotte is known to us as a fearless, fierce, loving, kind, cherished, and beautiful soul.
She loved dancing, listening to worship music, being a dog-mom, organizing gatherings, cooking jollof, stew, meat, and soup, throwing big birthday shebangs, volunteering as a mentor, and planning events. You know she was always lending a helping hand, having fun, and making people smile.
Always there in need, she was one of the most supportive and kind people that we have come to known.
From us in the flesh, you are forever in our hearts; we know you are flying high, and we love you.
We appreciate all the support.
Thank you.
