Help for Ms. Kim and Ms. DeAirrea

Many of you know our long-time teacher and friend, Ms. Kim, and her daughter Ms. DeAirrea (Ms. D). Ms. Kim is our PS2 teacher and this past fall, Ms. D joined our Junior After School class.

A few weeks ago, Ms. D became sick with Mono, and by a very rare occurrence, this led to her having Guillain Barre syndrome. This illness causes the immune system to attack the nervous system resulting in muscle weakness and paralysis of certain parts of the body. These symptoms can improve with time, medical treatment and physical therapy. As you can imagine, this has been a terrifying and difficult time for both of them.

Ms. D remains in the hospital and will have to have extensive physical therapy moving forward to help her regain her mobility. The medical bills are numerous, and her treatment will continue for an undetermined amount of time. We would love to come together with our Morning Star family and offer a helping hand.
