Ms. Reilly has been an art teacher at Cinco Ranch High School in Katy ISD. She has dedicated 33 years of guidance and creativity for her students. However, she has never been just a teacher for many of the students in her art class. She has been a role model and a mentor, helping us to strive for our best through the dedication to helping us expand our boundaries and encouraged us to always experiment not only in art, but also in life. The mistakes we made along the way weren’t failures to her but rather opportunities for us to learn, and she gave us the guidance and patience to find our footing when we stumbled. To the numerous students touched by her kindness and support, her class provided a refuge; her class was a place where we could express ourselves in any way.

Ms. Reilly’s selflessness and encouragement has also helped myself to endure through some rough times. When I had difficulty getting through a school day, she would remain understanding and help me regain the strength I needed to not give up. When my drawings began turning dark and sinister, she supported and encouraged me to keep expressing my feelings through my drawings and not keep everything bottled up. And when I would chat about meaningless things in order to distract myself from bad thoughts, she would never stop me and her door would always be open for me.

Recently, Ms. Reilly slipped on a spilled drink in the school corridor and has reinjured her knee that was surgically replaced last year. She now requires a full cast and crutches and a walker to help her move around, while the pain from the injury has made it difficult to work. As a result, Ms. Reilly is unable to work for about three weeks. Despite her dedication to her students and the school, the district will only be reimbursing her $933 for the first week while her pay will be reduced by $1820 per week for the three weeks she is out.

In order to show gratitude for being an exceptional teacher, some of Ms. Reilly’s old students and I have decided to set up a GoFundMe in order to now become her support, just as she has done for us. Please help us to aid Ms. Reilly and help her get back on her feet as she recovers from a knee injury. This GoFundMe will go to helping her recover fully and be back to teaching her students again without the worry of money issues and future bills.

The raised fund will be spent to help recover some of the docked pay and what workmen's compensation won’t cover (~$4500) while also alleviating medical-related costs such as insurance bills and medication and living costs.

Ms. Reilly always know how to have fun while teaching her classes.
