Karla has faced many abdominal issues in her lifetime and have always required an extended stay in the hospital. Over the last year and a half, Karla has been hospitalized for one week with major pain and twice for one day when they caught the beginning of the blockage in time to prevent a lasting episode.
When Karla ends up hospitalized, they have to insert a tube down her nose and drain her stomach. She is put on a strict liquid diet for several weeks. Eating even slightly off of her diet puts her in jeopardy of more significant blockages, and in turn, hospital stays. In September of 2016, Karla had a scheduled surgery to address the adhesion issues she has been sufferering with for quite sometime. This surgery was to be a ray of light and hope as a true gift of health, mental, and emotional well being.
On early Saturday morning, Karla was rushed to the emergency room and had to have emergency surgery to repair a perforation in her small intestine. This released a bacteria into Karla's body causing her to become very ill. Further adhesions were found causing part of her intestine to be removed. She will be unable to teach and attend to her other 2 jobs, thus causing a lot of financial strain and hardship. She also does not have sick time banked, due to her hospital stays over the last year and a half and has been working 3 jobs to make ends meet. We are hoping to raise $5000 to help cover the costs of her surgery and bills during her recovery period. Any amount helps and is truly appreciated. Your donation is a true blessing.
