Ms. Terry needs our help.

Ms. Terry, the one who saved us too many times to count, needs our help.

This is definitely an unconventional GoFundMe campaign plea but there seems no more appropriate way to ask for your help than to share a story.

In 1993, I went to Ms. Terry, with tears in my eyes, telling her that I had to quit the Top Hats (dance company) because my family’s financial situation was changing. I wanted to work instead of being a financial burden on my family. Ms Terry wouldn’t hear of it. She made sure that my tuition was covered, my competition fees were covered, and my costume fees were covered.

That kind of giving spirit has always been at Terry’s core. How many of you have a similar Terry story? How many meals did she cook for you or your child during your time at the dance studio? How many times did she drive you to and from competitions? How many times did she dry your tears or offer a hug when you needed it most? The examples of Terry’s generosity are endless and came in so many forms.

Two weeks ago, Ms. Terry suffered a major stroke. Her benefits are limited and insurance is not covering nearly enough. An extension of Ms. Terry, of course, are her daughters Wendy and Shalet. More than anything, I pray that we can rally around this family, who has always taken care of us in our times of need, and give back … help ease their burden. Right now, they need to focus their energy on seeing Terry through this crisis. Can you all join Ms. Terry’s village in taking care of her girls the way she always took care of us? … by helping them to not have to worry about these growing medical bills.

No amount is too small. Please give what you can and PLEASE forward this campaign on to anyone you know who may have been blessed by Terry’s generosity.
