Ms. Wakeling's Comfy Classroom

Hi, I'm Mary Wakeling Larson, or Ms. Wakeling, as my students call me. I teach high school in Arizona at a small, project-based learning school. I take pride in having a comfortable space for my students to work, giving them flexible seating options, and providing things they need like snacks and hygiene products. However, purchasing these things for my students costs a lot! Now that I'm expecting my own child, I can't provide everything I used to.

 

I want to create the classroom I've dreamed of for years: A coffee shop-style classroom with lots of different tables, couches, rugs, wallpaper, lamps and lights, and a student supply closet where they can get anything they need. These students attend a Title I school, which means that many students are on the free and reduced lunch program with limited access to necessities. My vision for them when they enter my room is that they can relax, collaborate, and focus in a warm, well-decorated environment. Hungry students can grab a snack or a cup of coffee; students who need it can grab a chapstick, a deodorant stick, or a pad.

 

Please help me create the classiest (pun intended), most welcoming classroom this city has seen! I and all of my students will enormously appreciate any amount you can donate. Any excess funding will go towards providing a welcoming environment and necessities for my own kid. :)
