On March 30, 2018 Army Master Sgt. Jonathan J. Dunbar was killed in action from combat-related injuries in Manbij, Syria.
Born in Minnesota, Jon relocated to Austin, Texas with his family when he was young, and graduated in 1999 from John B. Connally High School in Austin.
Dunbar had deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan six times since he joined the Army in 2005.
Jon's friends and family began to petition the State of Texas to dedicate a road in his honor, to recognize the selfless sacrifices Jon made.
Senate Bill 1134, signed by the Governor on May 20th, 2019 went into effect September 1, 2019, and amends the Transportation Code to designate the portion of Farm-to-Market Road 734 (Parmer Lane) in the city of Austin between its intersection with Metric Boulevard and its intersection with Lamar Boulevard as the Master Sergeant Jonathan J. Dunbar Memorial Parkway.
We now ask for donations to raise the funds needed to design and construct markers indicating the designation as the Master Sergeant Jonathan J. Dunbar Memorial Parkway.
