Emergency Rent Assistance Fund

Australia's housing crisis has resulted in a sharp increase in evictions.

Last year, Homelessness Australia estimated that 1,600 are being pushed into homelessness every month. As the cost-of-living crisis worsens, this number is increasing.

RAHU fights everyday against unfair evictions through our advocacy and campaigning . However, recently we have seen an increase in the number of people being evicted after falling behind on their rent.

In the absence of federal and state government support, many renters are facing the very real prospect of homelessness.

RAHU is asking for donations to our Emergency Rent Assistant Fund to help stop evictions.

The fund is to be used as an emergency stopgap to delay an eviction occurring after a failure to pay rent.

Eligible RAHU members can receive up to $1200 per year. This will help our members buy time to fight evictions through state government tribunals, prepare an eviction defence, find an affordable alternative or get referred to emergency housing services.

Payments will prioritise First Nations solidarity. Everyone deserves safe and secure housing. Every donation helps.
