Update: it’s now been 13 months and I’m starting to walk! I’m working with the Paley Orthopedic & Spine institute in West Palm Beach FL and they are an absolute dream team! So much progress is being made with the work being put in during physical therapy 5 days a week. I have an External Fixator on my right leg that requires daily adjustments to be made in order to slowly bring the foot back up into a walking position. That takes a few months. Once my foot is done correcting we can go back in on my knees to better my functionality! An additional Fixator will go onto my right knee for a few more months to correct my extension. I’m still necessary for multiple procedures with time, but I’ve just explained what is current. I’m projected to start my oral/ maxilofacial surgery Jan 23rd, which will take about 9 month-a year to be completed. The date may not be set in stone as this has been getting pushed off for months due to insurance denials. The treatment plan for that procedure alone is 60k… I could still use as much support as possible for the time being as I won’t be in a position to work anytime soon and am trying to pay for housing, transportation, medications, procedures, co-pays, devices to better my mobility as I progress, grocery deliveries, etc.. unfortunately my recovery isn’t a speedy quick process and is going to take a bit of time before I’m back on my feet physically, metaphorically, & financially. As well as still dealing with a pending disability application which can take 1-2 years per my lawyer. And the funds that I did have, have been completely exhausted at this point. Completely meaning, 100% gone & can no longer get to therapy let alone do anything that I need to do until I have more funds. I can’t thank you enough for being here❤️
Hello everyone! My name is Aaliyah and I am 22 years young. If you take the time to read this I LOVE you. I’m so very blessed to even be able to be writing this out. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to share my story, but I need as much support as possible. I was in a car accident that was not survivable in November of 2022. I have zero recollection of what happened. I was put into a medically induced coma for 3 weeks with my mouth wired shut and spent over 140 days in the hospital. Though I was awake for Christmas, new years, Valentine’s Day, & my birthday while undergoing surgeries. I still have yet to process everything that I have endured and am enduring. My car went into a tree and collapsed on me. I was quite literally sandwiched between the floor and dashboard. When they got me to the hospital I had no pulse, collapsed lungs, and internal bleeding. I was nearly presented dead. In addition, I broke the entire structure of my face, orbital bone, nose, top and bottom jaw, knocked out 10 teeth, 8 ribs, pelvis, left arm, vertebrae, shattered both knees, both femurs, both feet, & lost bone in my right leg. My family said that I was unrecognizable. Of course it was a level 1 trauma. At this moment, I have severe foot drop that is contracting more every day, and immobile knees that are locked up not allowing me to fully bend or extend. My friends that fled to the scene said my screaming was music to their ears to know I was alive, that all they saw was my bones sticking out, and me covered in blood from head to toe. It took about 45 minutes for the fire department to get me out of the car. They actually had someone on the way to amputate my leg to free me but ended up cutting my car open because they couldn’t wait any longer. To this day I am trying to salvage my leg. I am never going to be done fighting until the day I die no matter what these doctors and surgeons say. And I do it all for my mom who passed away a few years prior. She created a warrior. So far, I have endured 79 surgeries and I’m ready to take on more. I WILL be on my feet again. To say the least, I’m in need of a lot of support. Physically, mentally, & financially. I’m sure you can imagine how insane my medical bills are right now… well over 2 million dollars so far. Along with that, I am in need of an amazing trauma oral surgeon to do some bone grafting, extracting, gum surgery, and implants. And if you know oral work, they need their money up front unlike hospital bills. I also need to find a trauma orthopedic that is willing to take over another orthopedics work without suggesting amputation which is EXTREMELY difficult. I am in for a long recovery. If you would like to support me in my recovery with medication cost, bills, surgeries, travel, handicap needs, housing, and plenty more, it would be so appreciated. If not, I still appreciate you taking the time to hear my story. I’m going to provide some pictures to help get a better idea of what the last 6 months have been like for me.
