Mt. Ararat High School Science Club Robotics Team

Mt. Ararat High School recently won the 12th Annual Maine SeaPerch Underwater Robot Challenge organized by the Northern New England American Society of Engineers. We are extremely excited about holding the honor of representing Maine at the International SeaPerch Underwater Robot Challenge to be held at Maryland University on May 13th. For teenagers from MSAD No. 75, this is an extraordinary opportunity to achieve greater success in the science world as the team strives to improve their state scores at the international event. While we are reluctant to reach out to the community for funds, we know this is such an extraordinary opportunity for our students.

The SeaPerch program is part of Mt. Ararat's Science Club which begins in November and runs through May. Ten students participated in Science Club this year, dedicating after-school hours and weekends conducting research, constructing, and testing their engineering designs. We have two junior students, Ethan Hanna and Paige Swanson along with sophomore Charles Scribner, whose robot was accepted to enter the international competition in May. Their performance at the state meet was so dominating that they finished first in all four competition categories.

One of the major barriers to participating in the international competition is raising funds to cover transportation, housing and food.

We are greatly energized about this event and hope you will be able to share in making this competition possible for our students.
