MTC Victim’s Travel & Expenses
Donation protected
Help McKenna Denson, the MTC Victim, attend depositions and meet her expenses.
McKenna Denson charging forward, bringing awareness to sexual assault and coverups within the LDS church. Now she needs help meeting her expenses. The emotional stress of speaking out about her abuse and the personal attack levied against her by opposing counsel is taking a toll. In the months since she faced her abuser, McKenna has lost her job, is unable to sleep and is in trauma therapy 4 days a week.
She’s pieced together some part-time work, but it’s not nearly enough to keep up with her expenses and mounting legal fees.
McKenna needs your help to pay for expenses when she travels for depositions and to help meet her modest living expenses while she is recovering from trauma.

This is a monumental opportunity to do good.
Like you, Team McKenna is frustrated that the church continues to double down on policies that protect abusers over the victims. It’s hard to hear messages aimed to shame and discredit her character.
But McKenna is bravely moving forward. She is paving the way for the many other victims who have been abused by church leaders and trusted adults and then shamed into silence.
• It's time to stop pretending abuse and assault don't happen in our community
• It's time to stop supporting abusers
• It's time to speak up and let our voices be heard
• It’s time to start believing victims
Working together, we can shine a spotlight on actions that protect the institution over the safety of its members. Please donate and then share this campaign.
McKenna Needs Your Help
McKenna is going up against REALLY DEEP pockets! Donating to her legal and travel fund will help her:
• Attend out-of-state depositions in her civil suit against the LDS church (20 are scheduled so far, with many more expected).
• Pay for flights, hotels, food and incidental expenses while traveling.
• Subsidize her part-time work to help her meet minimal day to day living expenses.
• Keep the spotlight on the need for change within the LDS church.
• Advocate for victims and be the change that makes church a safe place for everyone.
Support is the Key to Success
If you've listened to the tapes or watched the press conference you know that McKenna is a strong and bold woman. But the intense pressure of these cases is taking effect.
The emotional toll of standing in the spotlight is exhausting. The stress and trauma of the past few months are catching up to her - she's not sleeping and is trying to take care of herself with the help of trauma therapy. But it's making it impossible to keep up her employment and other responsibilities.
If McKenna is carrying this banner forward, we can help her by donating to her travel and living expense fund.
Why This Case Matters
McKenna tried for years to get church authorities to take action based on her allegations of sexual assault in the MTC. Instead, they continued to support the alleged abuser, Joseph Bishop, and call him into leadership positions.
With a nationwide focus on #TimesUp and #MeToo, McKenna believed that if she spoke up again, this time could be different. Maybe this time, LDS church leaders would believe her and apologize for what had happened.
Instead, the LDS church immediately circled the wagons around the institution:
• They began an investigation into her past
• Used shaming language when discussing her character and personal history
• Opened her daughter's closed adoption records
• Shared their findings with the alleged abuser's son and lawyer, Greg Bishop, who then leaked it to the press.
We know this is not an isolated case. We all have a friend or a sister who has experienced abuse or assault within the church. Maybe you've experienced it yourself.
This culture needs to shift to protect victims of abuse from the abuses of leadership who then works to silence them.
Donating today you not only help McKenna but will keep the spotlight on the #MormonMeToo and pave a way for a safer future for everyone.
