For five years, MTM's Artist Fund, funded entirely by the community, has made it possible to compensate local artists and take on exciting initiatives. These have included full shows including world and state premieres, readings of new musicals, a concept album, a children's book, a podcast and audio drama, a film, and special events.

MTM regularly showcases diverse, local talent and offers perspectives from local community experts, illustrating the vast array of talent and knowledge that exists in Madison and surrounding areas.

Our Goals:

Last year, MTM set several goals for upcoming years. Here is what we were able to accomplish in 2022, thanks to the Artist Fund and our community:

-Established a five-day work week to allow our artists to rest and fulfill their other commitments.

-Produced a world premiere musical, Ten Days In A Madhouse, which had been in development for four years.

-Showcased incredible vocals in the haunting Monstersongs.

-Finished our musical children's book, Finding Me (due out in December!) and held readings at libraries in the area as part of the Madison Public Library's Ripple Project.

-Paid every artist for their contributions.

Our goals for next year:

-Increase pay across the board

-Continue to develop our internship program for BIPOC and otherwise marginalized artists, with the goal of beginning in 2024.

-Produce a full musical, a workshop (as part of World Premiere Wisconsin), and several showings of a new initiative that involves the community like never before.

Why we need your help

It goes without saying, but the pandemic hurt. Certain grants have been refocused, and we did a lot of work for the community that didn't yield high financial results. The Artist Fund allowed us to do this, keeping art alive at a dark time in our history.

Your contribution of any size can help increase the Artist Fund and see your dollars reinvested in your local community. There is a plethora of diverse talent right here, and they deserve to be paid fairly for their gifts and time.

We can't wait to show you what we have in store for 2023 and beyond! Thank you for your support!
