Four primary school girls (Natasha Choko, Ruramai Tapambwa, Grace Zvarehwa & Lynne Chidanire) from a rural school in Chivhu called Mudavanhu Primary School beat all other schools in the country to win the National Chess Championships.
Three of them are orphans.
One heads her family.
They need US$5000 to go to the Africa Youth Championships. This is Queen of Katwe all over again!
They have until Wednesday 20 November 2019 to raise this money, Please help these Queens of Chivhu go to the Africa Youth Championships.
Here is the WhatsApp Message we received from the Chess Teacher.
"If you can please help us these little girls have got a talent, they are stars imagine where they come from but managing to be THE CHAMPIONS OF ZIMBABWE. Their backgrounds are so pathetic to tell you and the three are orphans, only one has all the parents but poor. These girls find it difficult to put food on the table worse enough payment of their school fees. I tell you one of these kids is living in a child headed family and looks after her old and sick grandmother its so sad. We approached all the offices with a hope that we get help but only empty promises. People are just not prioritizing it. The due date for registration was 12 November 2019 but we only managed to meet half of it, thanks to the guys who managed to convince the African Chess Federation. We managed to register the kids for the Championships but we still need to pay the difference. Please help these kids in any way you can."- Godknows Dembure, Mudavanhu Primary School Chess Teacher
