Mudslide disaster damages house- anything helps!
Donazione protetta
My friend Kristi and her family were majorly affected this last week with the once-in-a-lifetime storm! Check out the video and pictures, which don’t do justice to the damage caused! Their insurance refuses to pay a cent since they didn’t have flood insurance and “it came from the sky”. They live on the side of a mountain in a desert and none of the 8 houses that were affected had flood insurance, though Kristi’s house was the only one affected with mud.
Due to the rain and a mudslide, mud busted through her windows and her entire basement was flooded with 3 feet of mud. The water came in with enough force to lift their pool table, beds, basement freezer and other heavy furniture off the floor and were floating on top of the mud. She had photos and family memorabilia sealed in bins, but unfortunately the mud and water was able to flood all of her bins and Kristi lost a lot of her photos. The mud ruined the entire basement which included furniture, winter gear, a standing freezer, a bed, a mattress, a peloton, the bathroom, clothes, photos, family keepsakes, all of her husband’s work computers, TVs, a sound system, movies, blankets, clothes, the AC unit, and some built-ins. The damage also ruined other items that you can’t put a price on like her kid’s school memorabilia, and her grandfather’s bed. There are broken windows, and the mud flooded her vents and now the piping has to be cleaned out. Kristi thought the house was going to fold in on itself.
With insurance refusing to pay, they had to use their daughter’s college tuition to put a down payment on the disaster cleanup, which averages $10-15,000 just to demo. Bills are increasing and I had to convince her to let us help. Thank you for your kindness!
