Mukasa Children Foundation Uganda - Basic Needs

Hello - Thank you for visiting our page. We are very grateful to have you here.

My name is Mukasa Moses and me, and a couple of colleagues, Kwagala & Kalange care for 50 children in our orphanage in Naluwere, Bugiri. The children are aged between 2 and 14 years old.

Born in 2002, I was an orphan myself (having just been left on the streets as a very small child), so I know how difficult and scary life is on the streets. With some help from some Americans and a local woman, the orphanage was set up. Unfortunately we lost our American sponsors when they both passed of Covid. It has been very difficult since, but we are determined to give a better life to the children and we were officially registered as a charity in February 2024.

I have some big dreams to make the orphanage better and more self sufficient, (you can find out about these on our other gofundme pages but I hope to grow some of our own produce), but all the money you donate here, helps the children and their basic needs, mostly food, water & rent and if we can, some clothes or new shoes from time to time. Additionally, we sometimes need medical support for the children and with our coldest months ahead of us, some more bedding for the children as due to our numbers some of us have to sleep on the floor.

We are so very grateful for your kind donations, no matter how small, your contribution makes a huge difference to the children.

Here's how your money helps us here at the orphanage.

£7.42 feeds and waters a child for the week, this is rice, vegetables and some protein a few times a week.

To feed all children for a week we need £371, this includes the firewood to cook.

Whilst food is always our most urgent need, we also would be very grateful if you could help with some of our other needs;

Some of the children also need new shoes, sandals / flip flops cost £3.45 & shoes for school £8.60; they go barefoot if they don't have school shoes as they are not allowed to wear sandals / flip flops.

£60, will buy a change of clothes for 10 children. Many have items that are torn.

Medicines, like paracetamol and antiseptic for the month cost £15.

£129.38 pays for the rent for the month.

To look after a child for the month basic needs is £29.68
