Multi-Fundraiser for Ankoma Community, Ghana

Hello! We're Sophie, Chloe and Olivia; a trio of friends, fundraising together - all in the name of Ghana.

"IN THE NAME OF GHANA", is the fundraising campaign set up by us three girls in support of the local children, elderly and families within the community of Ankoma, Ghana.

WHAT IS ANKOMA OUTREACH?

Ankoma Outreach, is a foundation dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of the Ankoma community in Accra, Ghana. They aim to support the community by ensuring they have access to education, healthcare, and improved sanitation levels.

❓WHY DO THEY NEED OUR HELP?❓

Education, healthcare, and sanitation are a basic right in life; something we often take for granted. Unfortunately, for the community of Ankoma, these necessities are not widely available or even in existence.

Therefore, we've decided to take up the below projects during our 10 days out in the region:

SANITATION SUPPORT

We'll be funding and building new urinals for both men and women. In this village, toilets and sanitation spaces are shared meaning there is a lot of opportunity for hygiene issues and the spread of diseases. The current community toilets are out of bounds due to safety reasons with the floorings being cracked and the structure unstable. No family in Ankoma has their own toilet so the requirement for this development is very urgent.

RECREATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

For many of the children in the village, recreational resources are few and far between, with only the landscape and raw materials to use. Their summers, spent outside of school, are often occupied with dreams of sports; football being the preferred activity. With little income to spare, the community fields have overgrown meaning these areas are not usable and dangerous. To restore these areas and bring some fun to the children and families of this area, we'll be supporting them on this cleanup, purchasing them the materials to maintain the fields and the equipment to encourage their use.

HOSTING EDUCATION

We'll be stepping into the classrooms to help improve the children's English which will provide them with wider opportunities. We'll be lesson planning, finding fun and sensory activities to keep them engage and we'll be leading education-based assemblies to educate the children on topics of our choice.

MEDICAL OUTREACH

Helping restrict the spread of malaria by monitoring the children, taking them to clinics, completing a testing day to catch symptoms early and supporting the clinics with their endeavours.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

We'd greatly appreciate donations of any size. These funds will be used directly on the children and families of Ankoma on the initiatives mentioned above .
