Sensory hub fundraiser - St Joseph's P.S Bessbrook
Donation protected
We are the parents of a six year old autistic boy who attends St Joseph's Primary School, Bessbrook. He is in one of the two autism specific classes and is progressing well within this environment. Due to lack of funding and budget cuts within the Education System, there is no money available to update the sensory areas within each autism specific class. Staff are doing an amazing job however they are working with very limited resources, and the rooms require significant upgrading to turn them into multi-sensory learning hubs where the children will have opportunity to explore and learn through various mediums. We are fundraising to make this happen for the children. Research has shown that multi-sensory environments provide a safe and supportive space for children, and assist them when feeling overwhelmed. The children can spend time in the sensory hub to regulate their feelings and emotions, as well as engaging in interactive sessions with their classmates. Furthermore, it is hoped that the hubs can be utilised by the whole school population to enhance learning experiences, integration and inclusivity.
Thank you in advance for your support.
