Jan Radford Motor Neurone Disease Treatment

Six months ago- Jan was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND). For those who are not aware of MND it’s an uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves. It causes weakness that gets worse over time. It’s rapidly progressing, life-threatening condition that affects six people in the UK every single day. The worst part is there’s no cure.

Can you believe we went through three misdiagnoses? Spent a fortune in Harley street to be told anything but MND. We even sent jan to rehab in Leeds for a month believing she would make a miraculous recovery as she was told she had FND which is a neurological disorder.

Jan’s friends have all been amazing and have helped massively since her diagnoses. Their strength and positivity is getting us through each day.

The past 2 years we have spent an obscene amount of money on treatment that has got us nowhere because of the misdiagnoses. Now, We are actively looking for new treatments. As you can imagine treatments for MND is costly and there’s not a lot out there that has been approved. We are researching everyday and weighing up the odds of each treatment that’s available to mum.

As the disease is progressing we’ve decided to set up this page to help us fund Jan’s medical costs from hydrotherapy to daily living aids. The fund will also enable us to explore new avenues to help jan and hopefully find a drug that will slow the progression of this horrendous disease.
