06/04/2017 UPDATE:
REST IN PEACE MUMMABEAR<3

Early morning on the 25th of March 2017 Kylie, Mummabear passed peacefully in her sleep due to her body shutting down from her terminal illness. Although we were all given the heads up that cancer would take our Mummabear from us it did not make it any easier on her 4 beautiful boys. Last Friday, 31/03/2017 we held a beautiful service for Kylie to share memories and of course some well-deserved drinks to celebrate her life. Since Kylie’s passing I have had her younger 3 boys in my care with their older brother Lucas, which has been a blessing and I appreciate every day I spend with them. I’m posting an update to hopefully spread this story around again once more and see if anyone is able to assist or even just simply share the story to your social media or work (if approved). Appreciate your time reading this update, on behalf of the 4 boys – we thank you for your love and support.

“Since the day you got your wings, I have never been the same. I miss you so”

16/02/2017 Update posted from Madeline:

Hi all,
Maddie here.

Early last year I shared with you all the story of my partner's family and his mother, Kylie who is battling secondary bone cancer. (Please find story below for those who did not get to read)

I am here to update you all on Kylie and our families situation. After a CT scan last week Kylie has been given approximatley 1.5 months to 3 months left until we will have to say goodbye. Kylie remains positive and as strong as she can be for her boys, for the time she has left. She is in a large amount of pain daily which is managed by pain medication. As a family we are all trying our best to stay strong and positive for the time we have left with mummabear but we all know that is easier said than done.

I have setup this page in hopes to raise money for Kylie’s 4 children and their future. Monies donated will go towards associated costs; with their mother passing including funeral costs, their future: education, sporting and anything else they may require or need with the remaining donations.

I want to thank you all for your generous donations to date. Kylie was able to pick out a beautiful spot at Newcastle Memorial to place her ashes for us all to visit when she leaves us using an amount from the gofundme page.

On behalf of myself, the immediate family as well as all of our loved ones, we thank you for taking the time to read our story and are extremely grateful and
thankful for all of the thoughtful donations.

Hi all, my name is Maddie Tipping. I am now 22, when I was 16, I met my partner Lucas.  Like all relationships there are highs and lows –read to discover our rollercoaster with his family and the reasoning for the set-up of this gofundme page.

I am here today to talk to you about Lucas’ family; this wonderful family I have had the pleasure of knowing for the last 5 years. In this time I have been able to form such a strong bond with each member of the family and I have gotten to know them, and love them more than I ever thought I would.

Lucas’ immediate family includes his mum aka MUMMABEAR, Kylie aged 41 and three younger brothers, Alex, Kurtis and Josh aged 8, 10 and 17 in one household, and then his father, Adrian, Step Mum, Carly and two younger sisters Aleena and Payten in another.

MUMMABEAR is a single mother who looks after the three younger boys all on her own, living pay cheque to pay cheque to care and provide for them.

It has not been easy for MUMMABEAR and her family, however they have always pushed through, together as a family, and this makes them one of the strongest families I know.

Kylie has been through cancer, unfortunately, multiple times throughout her lifetime. It started in 1993 when Kylie was diagnosed with Skin Cancer, and the cancer was removed. Kylie was then diagnosed with breast cancer on 21/01/2013 months before her 38th birthday.

When we first found out about Kylie’s breast cancer Lucas and I decided to create a fundraiser with the McGrath Foundation called ‘Maddie and Lucas Show Support’. Our fundraiser included raising awareness for Breast Cancer and raising funds for the McGrath Foundation by shaving our heads on the 1st of June 2013. With the help of our family and friends we raised over $2,000 for McGrath Foundation, over $1,000 more than our original target of $1,000. On the day Lucas’ little brother, Kurtis (aged 10) wanted to get in on the action and ended up shaving his head for his mum too!

Kylie went through radiation and chemotherapy. As it is tough for any family who have a family member with cancer, going through treatment, this family was not any different. It was hard for Kylie, being a single mother, to attend appointments and so on but with the help of family and friends, we made it all happen. On the 15/10/2013 Kylie kicked cancer’s butt again having her last chemo treatment.

For those who do not know what the BRCA2 gene is; if you have this gene it means cells are more likely to develop additional genetic alterations that can lead to cancer. On the 21/05/2015 Kylie had to have her ovaries removed due to being positive to the BRCA2 gene. This also meant that on the 04/12/2015 Kylie had a bilateral mastectomy, the removal of both her breasts.

Most recently on the 19/05/2016 Kylie was diagnosed with secondary bone cancer which has spread to her spine and skull. This means that in 6 – 12 short months we will all have to say goodbye to our dearly loved mummabear.

There are no available treatment options to prolong her life.

This is a hard situation for anyone to process yet alone the children who are about to lose their mother. Kylie is in constant pain due to the cancer spread throughout her bones and body, yet she remains positive and as strong as she can be for her boys, for the time she has left. As a family we are all trying our best to stay strong and positive for the time we have left with mummabear but we all know that is easier said than done.

I have setup this page in hopes to raise money for Kylie’s 4 children and their future. 95% of monies donated will go towards associated costs; with their mother passing including funeral costs, their future: education, sporting and anything else they may require or need.

The remaining 5% of monies donated will be donated to the Cancer Council to minimise the threat of cancer to Australians, through research into successful prevention, best treatment and support.

No child should have to bury their mother and it is on such sad circumstances that I am even having to set up this go-fund me page but I believe that the family especially the 4 boys are going to need all the help they can get when mum passes and any donations will be very appreciated.

“I do not wish it upon anyone to lose their mother as it feels violent. It feels raw and fundamental, a pain that reaches all the way down to your ligaments and bones. Our mothers were our first firmament, literally, our first homes, and the universe from whose substance we were formed. And while this is a pain that all creatures who are born must face, it does not make saying goodbye to your mother any easier to do. Always be thankful for your mother’s love.”  - Unknown

Please help me help this deserving family. On behalf of myself, the immediate family as well as all of our loved ones, we thank you for taking the time to read our story and are extremely grateful and thankful for all of the thoughtful donations.
