Munji's Hospital Fund

Donation protected
Munj, our 11 yr old senior baby, has suddenly been hospitalized. He had been dealing with hyperthyroidism the past few months with medication but was otherwise seemingly very healthy, so we thought he was back to full strength. We even called him Munjamin Buttons because he was getting more youthful as he aged. We joked that he was going into the fun part of retirement.

While I (Christy) was away for a week, my husband Jeff let me know that Munj has been not eating, very sluggish, and hid alone by himself in the dark bathroom or the basement. This was very unlike our older but playful cat. The day I returned, his nose started to turn pale from very pink. Jeff took him in to an emergency vet immediately. There, they told us that his thyroid levels have gone off the charts again (refused his usual meds even with pill pockets), was very dehydrated, found he has anemia, a heart murmur, and possibly cancer. The thing that scared us the most was the polyp they found in his lung.

Today, April 19th, we received some results from his ultrasound that wasn't the news we wanted to hear. He has low blood platelets causing blood clots, easy bleeding, and even bruised from fluid needles. The vet says his anemia and possibly hyperthyroidism could be a sign of an underlying issue such as cancer. We don't know for sure if the little mass in his lung is cancer yet; they recommend him going to see an internal medicine specialist. He's not home yet, and we don't know if he can come home today.

Munj may need invasive surgery to get a sample of the mass, and if it it cancer, a surgery to remove it.

My husband had Munj (actually named Munchies) since he was 8 weeks old; he's turning 12 in September.  The vet actually said it was amazing to see him so alert and bright with all these complications. It really shows that he is a fighter. He is not ready to go. We are not ready to let him go. So Jeff and I will fight for him.

The vet bills are already adding up. Jeff and I have already taken care of his initial emergency bill of $3k, including testing, hospitalization, and medication, but we are expecting the specialty fees to triple that, especially if it includes any sort of surgery. We appreciate any assistance whether it be prayer or monetary support.

Thank you so much.
