Murandy's Heart: Surrogacy after Infant Loss
Donation protected
I went through one of the worst things imaginable. I lost my newborn son.
I was in labour for twelve hours when my uterus ruptured, resulting in an emergency c-section followed by an emergency hysterectomy and a blood transfusion to save my life. During this time, my son, Lincoln Valentine Kell, was without oxygen for twenty minutes which caused irreversible brain damage. Thirty-five hours later, my little boy passed away in my arms.
What happened to my family is an extremely rare occurrence. Statistically, it happens in less than 1% of pregnancies. It was the most devastating thing I have ever been through. I’m still grieving the loss of my child and I know I will never truly get over that loss. No parent should ever have to experience what I did; I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy. Unfortunately, my trauma was only amplified by the fact that I lost my uterus in the process and because of that I will never be able to carry another child of my own. I was, and still am, devastated by this fact.
In the past few days, however, I was offered a tiny bit of hope. My doctor informed me that my ovaries were saved, so if one day I wanted to pursue having children, I could do so through the use of a surrogate. Unfortunately, pursuing this option is costly and far from simple. I would need to have my eggs harvested and frozen for later use, following an IVF procedure. This alone is very expensive and I can’t see any way I could afford it without help. So it is for this reason I am reaching out to you today to ask for you to help me make my dream a reality. If you could find it in your heart to help me with a donation, or even a share, it would be greatly appreciated.
For my end, I promise to keep you updated with the results of this gofundme and my journey from here and if this fundraiser manages to raise more than I need, I will be donating the extra funds to another family struggling with infertility. Either way, I want to be open and up front about every step of my journey, so that any and all who want to can be a part of my experience.
Thank you for reading this, and for any help you can give. I really appreciate it.
