Murat's Spinal Cord Injury Recovery
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Supporters:
I am deeply saddened to inform you that on March 12th, 2023, our dear friend Murat Akbulut had fallen off a ladder while attending to his backyard and severely injured his spinal cord. He was taken to Delray Medical Center immediately and got operated on for his injury, which took over 4 hours. Unfortunately, even with a surgery that is deemed successful, Murat is left with paralysis from the neck down, requiring intubation to support his breathing. He may also need to receive a tracheostomy so that he can be fed through a feeding tube.
Murat is a real estate agent, who is married with two young daughters ages 9 and 12. His current situation leaves his wife as the only financial provider for the family, who currently works at a grocery store as a sales associate. Due to the intensive care and rehabilitation Murat will require in the coming months and even possibly years, she is forced to take a leave of absence from her work, as neither of them has no immediate family living in the US.
Murat currently does not have any private insurance and depends on Medicaid to help him with his medical needs. He will need our financial support to aid him with his current and future medical expenses and also to support his family during these difficult times.
To facilitate this financial help, I created this GoFundMe campaign. My name is Kubra Oktan and we, as the Oktan family are close friends of the Akbulut family. I first met Murat 7 years ago at my daughter's school and built this close family friendship ever since. I have assigned Murat's wife, Sevil Akbulut as the beneficiary of this campaign. Once Sevil determines the structure of Murat's medical expenses and before the withdrawal deadline GoFundMe imposes, she will start the transfer of the funds out of GoFundMe. For now, your donations will be kept safe in GoFundMe fundraiser account.
We greatly appreciate your generous donations.
Thank you,
