Murrayfield Wanderers has a rich and varied history of rugby success. It has produced well over 100 male and female internationalists. It combines two clubs, Murrayfield and Edinburgh Wanderers, who came together in 1997 after they began sharing a clubhouse adjacent to the Murrayfield stadium which between them, they had paid for, and then helped construct.

Moving forward, united and stronger together, we triumphed against various difficulties and celebrated many victories. Both on the field of play and off.

2018 brought a new set of challenges. When our Stadium lease came to an end the club embarked
on its relocation to Roseburn Park and usage of The Pavilion, The Armoury and The Riversdale Suite
in Murrayfield Ice rink. The difficulties in securing a permanent base have only intensified over the
last year as a direct result of the Coronavirus pandemic and its devastating effects on all aspects of
our everyday lives. The players haven’t had a competitive game in over a year, our clubrooms have
been closed and we have received no operating income.

Now is the time to rise to these challenges. Now is the time to take action.

We must now prepare for the next stage of our evolution, ensuring that we have the imagination, aspiration, resilience and resources for future growth and success. This includes establishing a strong financial base which will support the options to increase participation, establish additional senior teams, both men’s and ladies’, introduce new age grade girls’ and boys’ youth sections and to provide all the necessary infrastructure to facilitate these ambitious plans.

 

Work will shortly commence on a major upgrade to the drainage and surfaces to provide two high quality rugby pitches. This is only the first phase in providing our players, members, volunteers, coaches, sponsors, visitors and supporters the resources, environment and infrastructure to thrive.

As we look to bolster our finances to fund these developments, we are pleased to launch ‘The Road to Victory’ campaign and ask all who have been part of our proud past to be part of our future. Your support will make a huge difference to our options and enhance our potential to provide an environment where all future Murrayfield Wanderers can flourish.

In addition to the £8k target to be raised by the general membership and friends of the club on this page, each of our sections have
their own targets. These include Men's Section £3k, Girl's section £2k, Mini's Section £2k and
our Commercial/Business Development Section £5k. This means our overall target for the Road to Victory campaign totals £20k.
