Muscle Testing Research

Donation protected
Thank you for clicking. I am Dr Anne Jensen and I have just completed my DPhil (PhD) in Evidence-based Health Care at Oxford University. For my PhD research, I studied the accuracy of muscle testing / kinesiology. My results showed that muscle testing is consistently significately accurate. Here is a link to the abstract of my dissertation: http://ora.ox.ac.uk/objects/uuid:4fd95394-e812-402e-9195-6c82643eaa15

And here is a short video summary of my research made by the Kinesiology Federation in the U.K.:

What's next? More muscle testing research! I have studies designed which need finding. In one study we will assess the validity of surrogate muscle testing. Surrogate muscle testing is used when the person (or animal) you would like to test cannot be tested, for some reason - perhaps they are a baby or small child or are diabled or injured - or if you'd like to test an animal. In these cases, it is common practice to use another person's arm to do the testing on their behalf. And while this is done routinely in the field, it has not yet been shown to be valid - so this is what I intend to do.

Other studies I have planned will assess the accuracy of self muscle testing and how much bias can be introduced - both consciously and nonconsciously. Oh and I have others in mind as well!

Why am I using crowd-sourcing to fund these projects? Because I have applied for over a dozen different grants and my applications have all been rejected. GoFundMe will make this research possible!

All funds collected will go toward designing and running research studies aimed at assessing the acuracy of muscle response testing. In addition, these funds will also go toward publishing these results as Open Access - so that YOU and everyone else will have access to this information.

These projects will not only mean a lot to me, but are important to the future of muscle testing. So if you are a muscle testers or kinesiologists please consider donating - every little bit helps. I am committed to this - please help!

Since I have had to self-fund all my own research, I know how to run rigorous studies inexpensively. But there is some cost involved - such as consulting fees (i.e. for a statistician), ethical board review, and the costs of data collection. So I am suggesting donations of £35 (or more). If 150 people donated £35, we will be on our way! But truly, any amount would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, the research process is not a quick one... A study can take 2-3 years from design to publication - and that may be fast! So please be patient with this.

This research is important - please help and contribute to the advancement of the scientific basis of muscle testing / kinesiology. Thank you for your support!

If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Thank you again for your donations!

Best,
Dr Anne
