Please help us on our journey. We are raising money to benefit Carnegie Museum Foundation of Jefferson County, and any donation will help make an impact.
We have created a 3D duplicate of the museum that can be walked through and explored. Wander through a model of the three story structure that was originally built through the generosity of Andrew Carnegie. Touch the floor to move forward. Touching the bullseye tags will give you more information.
Many of the specimens on exhibit were donated by the Smithsonian Museum through the diligence of Senator James Falconer Wilson. Still others from ancient Mexico were gifted to the museum by Ottumwa newspaperman, S.B. Evans. There is a collection of European artifacts from Rome and a collection of Iron Age Swiss artifacts that were gifted by S.H.M Byers, the author of the Iowa State song.
The generosity of the people of Fairfield and their acquaintances is shown in our incredible collection. In order to better serve our community and our children during these times of Covid-19, we have created this 3D Carnegie. As with the "brick and mortar" museum, we are free. All of this is brought to you by the generosity of donors. Please donate what you can, or give what you think this experience is worth. Your donations will help us to continue our digital presence and will allow us to greatly expand our offerings to include locally produced movies shown in the model. The only limits on where this can go is money and imagination.
Please send your thoughts and dollars so we can continue offering these experiences.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to our community and the education of our children.
