MUSIC FOR VALENCIA: Bringing Aid to DANA Victims in Valencia

Hello! We are Eva and Celia Serrano, two musicians from Catarroja (Valencia) currently living in Rotterdam. Our hometown, Catarroja, was one of the areas most severely impacted by the devastating DANA storm on October 29, 2024. Many towns across Valencia have been affected by what is being called the worst meteorological disaster of the century in Spain. Entire neighborhoods were flooded, leaving countless people without homes, cars, and tragically, many have lost their loved ones. Over 200 people have tragically lost their lives, with many more still missing.
We are deeply connected to our community and, being far from home, it’s heartbreaking not to be there physically helping our families, friends, and neighbors. So, we decided to do what we do best—bring people together through music to offer help in whatever way we can. Every bit of support counts! The situation is catastrophic, and many people have lost absolutely everything.
How Will the Donations Be Used?
All funds raised will be directly donated to support families, educational institutions, and cultural centers affected by the DANA. Eva and I have trained at many of these local music schools and have been involved in local cultural activities, so we want to use the funds to help restore and rebuild them.
The donations will be specifically allocated to:
- Families affected by the DANA: Through verified accounts provided by local town councils, starting with our own town, Catarroja.
- Local Music Bands: Such as the Unión Musical de Catarroja and L'Artesana, both of which have been severely impacted by the storm.
- Music Schools and Conservatories: Including the Conservatorio de Catarroja and Sedajazz, which have also suffered significant damage.
- Other Vital Community Spaces: Including nursing homes, schools, small businesses, and other essential community spaces, depending on the total funds raised.
How Will the Funds Be Managed?
The funds will be initially deposited into Celia’s account. Once the total balance is clear, we will distribute the donations transparently among the families and institutions listed above. We are committed to providing updates on how the funds are used to ensure full transparency. 100% of the money raised will go directly to those affected by the DANA.

¡Hola! Somos Eva y Celia Serrano, dos músicas de Catarroja (Valencia) que actualmente vivimos en Róterdam. Catarroja, fue una de las áreas más gravemente afectadas por la devastadora tormenta DANA el 29 de octubre de 2024. Numerosos pueblos en toda Valencia han sido golpeados por lo que se considera el peor desastre meteorológico del siglo en España. Barrios enteros se inundaron, dejando a muchas personas sin hogar, sin coches, y, trágicamente, muchas han perdido a sus seres queridos. Más de 200 personas han perdido la vida y aún hay muchas más desaparecidas.
Estamos profundamente conectadas con nuestra comunidad y, al estar lejos de casa, nos duele no poder estar allí físicamente ayudando a nuestras familias, amigos y vecinos. Así que decidimos hacer lo que mejor sabemos hacer: unir a las personas a través de la música para ofrecer ayuda de la manera que podamos. ¡Cada pequeño apoyo cuenta! La situación es catastrófica y muchas personas lo han perdido todo.
¿Cómo se usarán las donaciones?
Todos los fondos recaudados se destinarán directamente a apoyar a las familias, instituciones educativas y centros culturales afectados por la DANA. Eva y yo nos hemos formado en muchas de estas escuelas de música locales y hemos participado en actividades culturales de la zona, así que queremos usar los fondos para ayudar a restaurarlas y reconstruirlas.
Las donaciones se asignarán específicamente a:
- Familias afectadas por la DANA: A través de cuentas verificadas proporcionadas por los ayuntamientos locales, empezando por el de nuestro propio pueblo, Catarroja.
- Bandas de Música Locales: Como la Unión Musical de Catarroja y L'Artesana, ambas gravemente afectadas por la tormenta.
- Escuelas de Música y Conservatorios: Incluyendo el Conservatorio de Catarroja y Sedajazz, que también han sufrido daños significativos.
- Otros Espacios Comunitarios Vitales: Incluyendo residencias de ancianos, colegios, pequeños negocios y otros espacios esenciales para la comunidad, dependiendo del total de fondos recaudados.
¿Cómo se gestionarán los fondos?
Los fondos se depositarán inicialmente en la cuenta de Celia. Una vez que se aclare el balance total, distribuiremos las donaciones de manera transparente entre las familias e instituciones mencionadas anteriormente. Nos comprometemos a proporcionar actualizaciones sobre el uso de los fondos para garantizar total transparencia. El 100% del dinero recaudado irá directamente a los afectados por la DANA.
