Music Video for 403
Donation protected
Hello! We're Alice and Marlene and we're fundraising to raise funds for Liv's first music video for her single 403.
The video is being made initially for Alice's Final Major Project to complete her three years art university and will be exhibited in London as part of her degree show in June.
Liv Benton’s Artist Statement:
Why is this song important to you?
This song is important to me as it was written at a time where I was feeling vulnerable after a break up.
Not only did it help me to gain closure, but I can also now look back at this time of my life, through the song, and reflect on how far I’ve come. It’s a marker of where I was and how I’ve grown so much from then.
It’s helped me to realise it’s okay to feel broken hearted and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Why did you write it? How will others relate?
I wrote the song whilst I was studying music at university as one of my main modules was songwriting. Songwriting had never really been my strong suit and I had built up a lot of built up anxiety around writing songs, as you are quite literally opening up and writing your own (often very private and personal) thoughts and feelings on paper for anyone to see and eventually hear. However, I knew that writing about my own life and personal experiences would enable me to be able to better express myself, not only on a personal level but as an artist as well.
It was an outlet in which I could express and relay my feelings to myself and others in a way that was right for me.
Going through a break up is never easy and something most of us have experienced. Being able to write how I was feeling during this time and turn it into a song was special.
I think a lot of people will be able to relate own personal experiences to ‘403’ as breakups are a pretty universal experience and I mean who hasn’t drunk texted or called their ex …
I hope people can find peace in knowing they’re not alone in their own experiences.
Why do the music video? How will the visuals of the music video enhance ‘403’ and the feelings you write about in it?
I want to make the ‘403’ music video because I think every song that has a strong video behind it enhances the listeners experience. They can see the words as well as hear them. They can see the pain, anger and happiness that the song aims to express. My hope in making the music video is that it will make the impact of the song more powerful and will resonate further with you, the listener.
I want to express how raw the emotions in ‘403’ are and are within the video as well as making it as visually pleasing as possible. I envision complimenting colours, outfits and locations.
Alice Williams Director’s Statement:
For me creating a music video is an opportunity to develop my creative practice. I’m passionate about directing this project because I believe in the power of visual storytelling to enhance and complement musical narratives.
My goal is to craft a visual experience that not only aligns with the artist's vision but also elevates the overall impact of the lyrics in ‘403'. I also want to challenge myself to develop my own collaborative skills.
I will be working alongside other creatives from different practices and backgrounds in the aim of creating a shared vision of all cast and crew alike. Ultimately, my goal is to deliver a music video that reflects Liv’s initial feelings when writing ‘403’ and that the wider audience, those who’ve been through similar experiences with a breakup, can connect to through the combined lyrics and visuals.
The style we are trying to achieve sets out to have undertones of a vibrant yet naturalistic set with Liv being at the centre of most shots. I aim to create a video that is visually compelling, almost ethereal in it’s aesthetic to create a cinematic experience that captivates the audience but enhances the narrative of the song ‘403’.
I want to create a sophisticated blend between the modern city and a more timeless, refined aesthetic as I feel this will captivate Liv’s own personal aesthetic as well as elevate the overall vision for the song. My goal is to evoke emotions, provoke thought, and direct a memorable artistic encounter between two people that resonates with viewers on a deep and personal level.
The funds will go towards funding all the styling, equipment, insurance and locations for the shoot.
Any donation are massively appreciated by all the team and we thank you for taking the to read and support our music video venture!
