Musical Theater Workshops in Caguas, Puerto Rico

I was born and raised in Caguas Puerto Rico. Since I was a child, I was very interested in arts. I started playing the violin at seven. Some time later I started dancing salsa and hip hop, then singing and acting. I discovered that Musical Theater was a discipline in which I could combine everything that I loved in one space but, there were not any places nearby in which I could get training in Musical Theater.

I started my bachelors degree in Acting in the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras. Then, I went to University of California, Irvine to do my master in Acting. While I was studying in Puerto Rico, I began working as an Acting Coach for a private school and I saw myself in those kids. There were very interested in Broadway and Musical Theater training but there were no options for clases in our hometown.

Inspired by my students, in Summer 2018, I started a Musical Theater Workshop in Caguas for them and we were full capacity. They loved it so much that they asked if we could stay as an after school alternative during the semester. That is how Taller Artistico Caguas was born. As a non profit organization, we have been able to impact a great amount of kids and teenagers offering low cost musical theater workshops. We have been in continuos growth and looking to offer more spaces for kids and youth. We have produced 7 Musical Theater Productions in our hometown. As part of our legacy, we have 24 students currently studying Musical Theater in the United States.

We have many goals and dreams, but sometimes it is difficult to keep up with the costs and expenses associated with our operations.

As part of our efforts to continue to provide this artistic space, we have acquire a new space that we want to transform into our new house. This will allow to continue the growth of our project. This space is located in an old building that requires several repairs.

With this go fund initiative, we are looking for help to habilitate an old building into our Musical Theater House. We have a lot of work such as: creating rooms, eliminating damaged walls, expanding a tiny bathroom, creating a lobby area, and many more things.
