Music Education Matters

MISSION

To show our community, our city, our country, and the world that MUSIC EDUCATION MATTERS! And ultimately, to raise funds that will help support music-based after school programs for my peers in Baltimore City.

WHY

My name is Harrison Fribush (age 13).  When I was nine years old my parents sent me to an overnight camp for three weeks; it was while I was at camp that I was first exposed to the drums. I was hooked the very first moment I kicked the bass drum; and I knew this would become my thing.

For my tenth birthday my parents gave me my very own drum set. I play daily. My drums are my solace. When I have a bad day, I play my drums to feel better. When I feel anxious about an upcoming test, I’ll play my drums before I study; doing so helps make it easier for me to focus and concentrate. I play my drums when I am bored, when I am sad, when I feel happy or overwhelmed; playing music and drumming gives me an outlet to work out my feelings in a positive and productive way.

Playing drums and creating music is my passion; the opportunity to play, learn and create music is the greatest gift my parents will ever give me. Drumming has changed my life! Every musician I know will agree that playing and creating music can change lives. I know that organizations such as the Cardinal Sheehan School and Believe in Music will not only change the lives of my peers who have the opportunity to participate in their programs, but in many cases, the music programs they offer may just save the lives of their students.

I want to help raise funds for organizations like the Cardinal Sheehan School and Believe In Music programs. I want to help provide funding so my peers will continue to have a safe place to learn, play and create music. By working together, I know the funds raised will ultimately not only help to change a life, but quite possibly save a life.

My Project

Invite the Cardinal Sheehan School choir to visit Krieger Schecter Day School on January 18th, 2019 to join together with our middle school choir for a morning of shared singing and community building.  To document the morning on film as a tool to spread the message: Music Education Matters; and ultimately, to raise funds to help the youth of Baltimore City continue to have access to music programs at no cost.

Together we will show the world that Music Education Matters!

How will funds raised be disbursed?

All funds raised by this campaign will be distributed to various organizations to enrich their music education programs.  Each month, funds will be withdrawn from the campaign and disbursed directly to each organization via a bank cashiers check.  To make sure funds are distributed on a timely manner, Nicole Fribush (mother of Harrison) will be managing the transactions.  If you would like additional information on how the campaign funds will be used, please email [email redacted].

Every donation is greatly appreciated and will directly impact children in Baltimore City!
