Muslim Community COVID-19 Pandemic Relief

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
With the chaos, mosques forcedly closed, restriction of movement, and economic recession that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought upon our communities, we should reflect and say "Alhamdillah," because compared to others, we have been fortunate enough to have our communities unite in support of one another with emotional/mental support, virtual support where educators are still able to teach their students, and community support where community leaders, public health/medical individuals, public institutions, Islamic institutions, and police departments stand in unison during these testing times. We also have many selfless organizations and individuals helping, to feed and provide monetary assistance to those who have lost their jobs. With that said, we have recently spoken with members of the Muslim community in El Salvador, and unfortunately, they have not been as blessed as we have. Prior to the pandemic, many of these community members were already destitute to begin with, selling fruit and other goods in markets and on the streets to earn less than $5 a day. With the pandemic, a state of emergency has been enforced, with movement restricted by an ID-system and highly militarized streets. Most of the Muslim community members have been unable to work to earn enough for food, shelter, and clothing. Moreover, the El Salvadorian government has been only able to reach 16.7% of the population for governmental assistance, making the uncounted for even more impoverished. The Muslim community tells us that the situation is getting worse every day and that they have identified many Muslim and Christian families who need immediate relief, where single mothers and families with disabled children have not received any aid. It only costs approximately $100-$200/month to pay for each family’s needs: food, shelter, and clothing. Your contribution today will help feed, clothe, and continue to provide shelter for these Muslim and Christian families in these dreadful times. Any contribution small or large will make an impact. May Allah bless you all during the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid Mubarak. JazakAllah Khair.
We are a local non-profit committee, Outreach El Salvador, that aims to support the Muslim community of El Salvador with religious affairs and donations. All donations will be sent to the Muslim community of El Salvador and appropriately dispersed according to the needs of each family, dubbed as Fondo de alivio de la pandemia de la mezquita Ashab Al-Kisa (The Pandemic alleviation fund from the Mosque of Ashab Al-Kisa).
