Hi, I'm Laura and I have the privilege of being the Team Secretary for Musselburgh Windsor 2011 Girls football team.
Our girls are getting ready for an exciting sporting exchange in France and they would really appreciate your support!
The Musselburgh Windsor 2011 Girls Football Team is gearing up for an incredible opportunity as they prepare to travel to Champigny-sur-Marne, France, in May 2025. This exciting trip will see the young footballers take part in a sporting exchange, strengthening the long-standing twinning relationship between Musselburgh and Champigny-sur-Marne, established in 1961.
An Opportunity for Sport and Cultural Exchange
The visit promises to be a rewarding experience for the young athletes, with a variety of activities planned, including:
- Competing in a friendly football tournament alongside youth teams from Champigny-sur-Marne.
- Immersing themselves in French culture, with opportunities to practice their language skills in a real-world setting.
- Exploring significant cultural and historical landmarks in nearby Paris, gaining a deeper understanding of the country’s rich heritage.
This initiative aligns with the Twinning Agreement’s core goals—promoting cultural, educational, and sporting exchanges while fostering international friendship through sport.
Fundraising Efforts and Community Support
To make this trip a reality, the team is seeking financial assistance to cover essential costs such as:
- Travel expenses, including airfare and local transportation.
- Accommodation for the players.
- Meals to keep the team well-nourished with tons of energy throughout the trip.
- Entry fees for planned entertainment and cultural activities.
To help raise funds, the team is hosting several fundraising events, including:
- Sponsored Beach Clean (Sunday, 23rd February): The girls will be rolling up their sleeves to clean Musselburgh’s beaches, helping the environment while raising funds.
- Car Wash Events (March 2025): The team will be offering car wash services to the local community in exchange for donations.
- Baking Stalls: Delicious homemade treats will be available for sale at various home games to help boost the fundraising total.
- Community Events: A variety of local events and fundraising nights will also be held to gather support.
Your support would be greatly appreciated! Whether it’s through sponsorship or donations, every contribution will help bring the girls one step closer to their international experience.
Why This Matters
This trip is about much more than football. It represents:
- Sporting Growth: Competing against international teams will develop the players’ skills and teamwork.
- Cultural Enrichment: Experiencing life in another country will foster a greater appreciation for diversity.
- Community Bonds: Strengthening the historic connection between Musselburgh and Champigny-sur-Marne.
- Youth Development: Helping young players build confidence, leadership, and life skills.
By supporting the Musselburgh Windsor 2011 Girls, you are helping shape future generations of young female athletes and community ambassadors. Let’s rally behind them and ensure they have the opportunity to represent our town on the international stage!
