Hi, my name is Mustang Sally Tallulah. My mommy and daddy started this gofundme page for my medical treatment because they love me and want to make sure that I can get the medical treatment that I need.
I have been diagnosed with a type of cancer called lymphoma. Lymphoma is a cancer of a type of white blood cells called lymphocytes which collect in lymph nodes throughout the body. Because white blood cells move throughout the body, we consider lymphoma a systemic disease. There are five different stages of lymphoma including stage 1: one lymph node, stage 2: multiple lymph nodes on one side of the body, stage 3: all lymph nodes involved, stage 4: any lymph nodes and liver or spleen, and stage 5: any lymph nodes and any other site as well. Stage 3 and 4 tend to respond more favorably than stage 5 dogs. Based on the results of my testing, I have stage 4 lymphoma.
Generally there are 2 types of lymphoma: B cell lymphoma and T cell lymphoma. These different types of lymphoma tend to respond differently to chemotherapy treatment. B cell lymphoma typically responds well to treatment with average survival times of a year or longer, whereas T cell lymphoma typically only survive 5-7 months with treatment. They had to send my testing out to Colorado State University to determine what type of lymphoma I have.
There are several treatment options for lymphoma that result in different median remission or survival times. The most successful treatment protocol is called CHOP chemotherapy and this protocol involves treatment with a prednisone (a steroid) and three chemotherapy drugs, Vincristine, Cytoxan, and Doxorubicin.
CHOP: CHOP is the most effective treatment protocol, which is an alternating chemotherapy protocol of 3 chemotherapeutic agents (Vincristine, Cytoxan and Doxorubicin) along with Predisone (a steroid). This protocol would require 25 weeks of chemotherapy and they usually see a median remission of 9-12 months.
The plan they chose was to start CHOP chemotherapy, and I was administered Vincristine 0.7mg/m2 IV (0.17mL) today.
There are also a whole bunch of meds that mommy has to give me for pain and side effects.
My next visit in a week I will get a CBC and cyclophosphamide chemotherapy. Boy, that's a mouthful!
See the bandaid on my leg? I think I look fabulous but I wish they used pink.

Message from Kristen & Devin:
"Thank you everyone so much for your generosity and prayers and love. We are so blessed by all of you and we know you've fallen in love with Sally, either in person or even on Facebook and Instagram, and she loves all of you, too. She told us. <3
As you can imagine, this came as quite a blow to us, both emotionally and financially. But just having so much love and support--it means everything. And the extra time that Sally can have with all of us...it is priceless. God bless you all. <3
