Mustapha and his family

Mustapha, fondly known as Moosty, has been working with us at The Family Place Restaurant for over seven years. Not only is he part of our Family Place community, he is part of our family. Many Family Place customers and staff consider Mustapha to be kind, funny, giving and a shining light in our community.

Mustapha has been living in Canada for over 11 years. Recently, he has become a Canadian citizen but his family is still in Nigeria, including his father and siblings, whom he misses tremendously.

In early September of this year, Mustapha’s hometown in Nigeria was hit by horrible floods, which destroyed his family home. Unfortunately his younger brother, at the age of 26, lost his life amidst the deadly floods. Ibrahim passed away trying to save people in his community from the flood. Ibrahim will be remembered as a hero.

Mustapha is feeling so far away from his family and is grieving from the loss of his younger brother. Many people have been asking how they might be able to help Mustapha. I suggested that we start a Go-Fund-Me to help to raise funds to support Mustapha’s family during this difficult time. Mustapha will ensure that the money raised will go towards providing immediate relief for his family and helping with the damages caused by the flood.
