Mutt's for Military: Train Pups for Vets
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Karrie Novesta. As many of you already know, my husband Robert is a 100% Disabled Combat Veteran. Robert served in the US Army from 2004-2016. While in the Army, he was deployed to Afghanistan for 18 months, boots on the ground, from 2010-2011. His MOS was 91 Bravo (mechanic) and 11 Bravo (infantry). In 2012, he was stationed in Anchorage, AK. While stationed at Fort Richardson in Jan 2015, he suffered a fall on the ice that caused a TBI. In Nov 2016, Robert was medically discharged/retired from the Army due to his TBI and PTSD. Due to his injuries from the fall and his time deployed in Afghanistan, he has had many health issues. Over the years, we have tried to get him a service dog through the VA and other veteran organizations. However, it has not been successful as most of these programs take anywhere from 3-7 years to be accepted and receive a dog. After doing some research, we have found John, who owns NW K-9 here in Washington. He is a veteran himself and is qualified to train our puppy Dale as Robert's service dog. It will take about 25-30 sessions to train Dale, as it depends on how he does. It is broken into 10 session intervals at $790 per interval. This does not include some of the training items recommended: $400 for car/home crates, leads/vests, and leashes.
I would like to do this fundraiser not only to help pay for Dale to be trained for Robert but to also be able to pay for another 1, 2, even 3 other local veterans to have their own puppies trained as service dogs. My goal is to do this fundraiser every year and call it Mutt's for Military (paying to train pups for disabled vets). PLEASE HELP US REACH THIS GOAL!
