Mutual Aid for Astrophysics and Space Sciences
Donation protected
In direct response to the federal funding freeze outlined by OMB Memorandum M-25-13 and any future directives imposed by the current administration that may prove harmful to our space sciences community, the choir collaboration is establishing a mutual aid program to offer financial assistance to those negatively impacted. Due to these orders, many of our colleagues in physics, astronomy, and planetary sciences may find themselves without a paycheck.
The funds collected through this GoFundMe will be dispersed to affected members of our community to cover a wide variety of individual needs both in terms of urgency and magnitude (e.g. rent, groceries, prescriptions). More details about this mutual aid program, including how to apply for aid, can be found by clicking here.
choir is an ensemble of astronomers who place equal emphasis on understanding the cosmos and bettering systems of doing science. We center intersectionality and value interdisciplinarity through tangible support and initiatives led by our collective of scientists. We are humans first and astronomers second; in both roles, we serve as stewards of education, justice, and the co-creation of knowledge and community.
