Mutual Aid Request for a Disabled Comrade

A comrade and friend in the UK is in need of significant support. He lives with his parents whose house is in disrepair due to a combination of neglect, disability, and financial hardship. He currently does not have the means to move out on his own and struggles with daily tasks due to disabilities such as OCD, autism, and long-covid. These difficulties are exacerbated further by the stresses of dealing with a home that lacks heating, a kitchen, and any place to wash clothing. He has been sleeping on an air mattress and has little privacy since his home needs much work he alone cannot maintain. His air mattress recently broke and the store he purchased it from refuses to give a refund for the faulty product. We hope to raise funds so that he can purchase a new air mattress. Additionally, funds collected would go towards money for the laundromat as his washer and dryer are not functioning properly and there’s not an adequate basin in which to wash clothing. Funds will also cover the cost of food, which must be purchased daily as, due to a vermin infestation, there is no sanitary storage area for nonperishables. To make matters worse, his refrigerator is in disrepair and he cannot currently afford to purchase a new one.

We hope you could spare some generosity and compassion for someone who is struggling to survive in unlivable conditions without the financial means or ability to currently leave. Eventually, we hope to help him into state housing and find him the appropriate care given his disabilities. At the moment though, emergency funds are needed to help our comrade survive during the long process of applying for state support. All donated money will be given through Go Fund Me and will go towards purchasing a new mattress, help fund weekly trips to the laundromat, and cover food costs.
