CAMPAIGN FOR THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF THE “MUTUAL AID” GROUP
The group "Mutual Aid to the Vulnerable Against Covid-19" is launching a financial aid campaign for the support of the group’s activities that have been taking place for about one and a half month. So far, the group has been running in 22 areas of Athens, with an ongoing addition of more areas, operating in a self-organized and horizontal way including the existence of autonomous subgroups per area and frequent teleconferences among them with a view to coordinating our actions. Because of our cooperation with several social kitchens and solidarity organisations for the collection of necessities, and having as our main imperative the consistent, everyday provision of help, we need the financial support of all the solidarity people in order to be able to carry on with our project, as we are not sponsored by any institution or organisation. Having already distributed thousands of meals and having actualised dozens of solidarity actions for our vulnerable fellow humans within a period of a few weeks and in conditions of quarantine, we definitely realised the need for this group to continue and last for much longer. We are aware that the economic recess that follows will be excruciating and so we want to prepare as much as we can for the next wave of the crisis that will follow; either this is called a virus or poverty. The financial contribution of everyone is absolutely vital. Let’s not abandon the vulnerable. Let’s put forward self-organization and solidarity against any state, Municipality and institutions that don’t care about us. Below, what is included is the invitation for the creation of the “Mutual Aid Group,” as well as some photographs of our activities.

None of us could have predicted the global pandemic that has hit and affected all of us. In this new status quo, the times we are experiencing, and days to come, definitely need to be days of solidarity. Covid-19 has forced a lot of people to isolate themselves, so not to be infected by the virus, because they belong to the high risk groups, or live with people that belong to the vulnerable groups, as well as a part of the population, who were already living in poverty, is now in a worse position, since none of the "supporting and protection measures" announced by the state until today, are affecting them.
We, as politically sensible people to be, who compose the assembly of the Self-Managed Haunt of “Kallithea Buena Vista” and the “Libertarian Collective of Kallithea” feeling the necessity for practical solidarity, we call for the formation of a “Mutual Aid to Vulnerable Group” to support, from below with self-organized and horizontal processes, the vulnerable groups always abiding by the necessary for individuals who will consist the mutual aid and vulnerable groups, in the ways we select to support.
At the same time, all of us, without exemptions, bear the social responsibility to follow the protection measures against the virus, by limiting our outings, as much as possible, avoiding close contacts to third parties, and take into account the recommendations of the scientific community. We may not be in risk ourselves, but we might become carriers of the virus, with dangerous or fatal consequences for our fellow human beings.
The reason we are making this group for mutual aid, is clearly because there have been cases of people from the vulnerable groups that have none to support them and put themselves through often outings and risks, without the ability to take the necessary precautions.
Our proposal is a three level solidarity plan: 1) Physical presence, 2) Remote Communication, 3) Financial/material support, so to cover every opportunity offered, to anyone who wants to contribute in any way, he/ she wants to- and can. The communication channels are:

There are 3 ways to participate/support
1.Physical presence, essential prerequisites are the non-physical contact with a familiar person belonging to a vulnerable group and taking measures to protect himself and the individuals that will be supported through the solidarity acts. For this action, protection measures must be obligatory. This action will be the main subject of the Mutual Aid Team.
2. Remote Communication, anyone who knows people belonging to a vulnerable group and needs help/succour/support, may convey us a communication channel. The people who are willing to participate in the Mutual Aid Team, can join us through the aforementioned social network channels and e-mails.
3. Financial/material support, to the support of vulnerable groups with necessities such as sanitary ware/medicines/food/housing/and other goods. The budget and type of needed goods, will be conducted by all the people who participate in the Mutual Aid Team, for the needs of the previous two aforementioned actions.
Solidarity is the only weapon we have to counter this prevailing social cannibalism. We shall stand next to those who are in real need in every way we can.
