Huron Valley COVID-19 Mutual Aid
Donation protected
Thousands of people throughout Washtenaw County are concerned about making ends meet and keeping their families healthy during and beyond the COVID-19 crisis.
Our coalition of local community organizers mobilized within hours of the state of emergency in Michigan. Since then, hundreds of our neighbors have joined this mutual aid effort and together we are working to safely provide direct aid throughout our community.
We are providing direct financial support to help our neighbors with basic needs like groceries and bills. So far, we've been taking Venmo and PayPal donations, and we've moved more than $8000 to support immediate needs. All transactions can be found in our financial transparency sheet.
We are getting hundreds of requests and we have a committed team of volunteers. What we need most right now is additional money in the fund. Given that people in our community continue to turn to our mutual aid fund for support, we've decided to launch a GoFundMe to expand capacity.
All of our volunteers are working to point people to existing government and nonprofit resources, but sometimes there are immediate needs that just need to be met with quick cash. At that point, it's neighbors supporting neighbors.
If you can help us sustain this fund, it will make a massive immediate impact and will help cultivate a culture of mutual aid in our community. Please give if you can (and ONLY if you can).
If you need to request aid, head to bit.ly/mutualaidhv.
Sending you love and solidarity for this weird and scary time. Thank you for doing what you can ❤️
