We want to buy as many musical instruments as possible for the musicians in Antakya and the surrounding area.

Musical instruments for earthquake victims in Turkey

The Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble is a musical ensemble based in the Netherlands with strong ties to Antakya, a city in southern Turkey, which was hit hardest by the 6 February 2023 earthquake. Not only do two band members have their roots in Antakya, but their musical repertoire is also strongly influenced by the musical culture of the area. The ensemble is therefore very committed to providing moral support to the survivors of this tragedy. This is why they have started a support project in this region, focusing specifically on music and musicians.

Collection campaign of musical instruments

The Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble is aware of the impact of the devastating earthquake on local musicians and young talents who have lost everything, including their instruments. As a result, the ensemble has launched this fundraising campaign to purchase and donate musical instruments, working with local initiatives, local music schools and arts centers that continue to operate despite limited resources. For example, the ensemble works closely with the "We will return" (Geri Döneceğiz İnisiyatifi) initiative in Antakya.

Long-term vision

Looking beyond the fundraiser, the ensemble's ultimate ambition is to set up an arts centre/music school in Antakya, in collaboration with the citizens' initiative "Geri Döneceğiz İnisiyatifi". This long-term commitment aims to provide ongoing support in the field of art and music, especially for children and emerging talent, and recognises the healing power of art and music in the aftermath of a severe disaster.

Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble

The Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble specialises in Turkish and Arabic music, influenced by Western styles such as jazz, blues and classical music. The ensemble consists of five talented musicians from international backgrounds and has gained recognition at home and abroad since its inception in 2006. They have performed on prestigious stages and festivals in several countries and have released two albums, "Gezgin" in 2011 and "Kan Zaman" in 2016, which received rave reviews in Europe.

Muziekinstrumenten voor getroffenen aardbeving

Het Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble zamelt geld in om muziekinstrumenten aan te schaffen voor professionele en beginnende muzikanten die door de aardbeving in Turkije op 6 februari 2023 getroffen zijn!

We willen zoveel mogelijk instrumenten aanschaffen om uit te delen in Antakya. Dit zullen vooral goede studie-instrumenten zijn voor beginners, maar ook instrumenten voor professionele muzikanten. Alle donaties zijn welkom!

Muziekinstrumenten voor slachtoffers aardbeving in Turkije

Het Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble is een in Nederland gevestigd muzikaal ensemble met sterke banden met Antakya, een stad in het zuiden van Turkije die het zwaarst werd getroffen door de aardbeving van 6 februari 2023. Niet alleen hebben twee bandleden hun wortels in Antakya, ook hun muzikale repertoire is sterk beïnvloed door de muzikale cultuur van het gebied. Het ensemble is daarom zeer toegewijd aan het bieden van morele steun aan de overlevenden van deze tragedie. Daarom zijn ze in deze regio een ondersteuningsproject gestart dat zich specifiek richt op muziek en muzikanten.

Inzamelingsactie van muziekinstrumenten

Het Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble is zich bewust van de impact van de verwoestende aardbeving op lokale muzikanten en jonge talenten die alles zijn kwijtgeraakt, inclusief hun instrumenten. Daarom is het ensemble deze inzamelingsactie gestart om muziekinstrumenten aan te schaffen en te doneren, door samen te werken met lokale initiatieven, lokale muziekscholen en kunstcentra die ondanks de beperkte middelen blijven functioneren. Het ensemble werkt bijvoorbeeld nauw samen met het initiatief "We zullen terugkeren" (Geri Döneceğiz İnisiyatifi) in Antakya.

Langetermijnvisie

Als we verder kijken dan de inzamelingsactie, is het de uiteindelijke ambitie van het ensemble om een kunstcentrum/muziekschool op te richten in Antakya, in samenwerking met het burgerinitiatief "Geri Döneceğiz İnisiyatifi". Deze langetermijnverbintenis is gericht op het bieden van voortdurende ondersteuning op het gebied van kunst en muziek, met name voor kinderen en opkomend talent, en erkent de helende kracht van kunst en muziek in de nasleep van een ernstige ramp.

Over het Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble

Het Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble is gespecialiseerd in Turkse en Arabische muziek, beïnvloed door westerse stijlen zoals jazz, blues en klassieke muziek. Het ensemble bestaat uit vijf getalenteerde musici met een internationale achtergrond en heeft sinds de oprichting in 2006 erkenning verworven in binnen en buitenland. Ze hebben opgetreden op prestigieuze podia en festivals in verschillende landen en hebben twee albums uitgebracht, "Gezgin" in 2011 en "Kan Zaman" in 2016, die lovende kritieken kregen in Europa.
