Support Batswana Women's Stories
Donation protected
This June, one of our directors, Liz Johnson, will travel to Botswana to meet with Latter-day Saint women and record their stories. The personal narratives that she collects will tell of the unique experiences, thoughts, triumphs and sorrows that each woman carries. Through Liz's thoughtful and meticulous work, these stories will be recorded, transcribed, and archived alongside the several hundred other LDS women's oral histories that the Mormon Women's Oral History project has preserved.
The MWOHP relies on an all-volunteer network to collect, transcribe and archive oral histories. Our annual operating costs are kindly supported by the Mormon Studies Council at Claremont Graduate University. Extra costs, such as this trip, often come out of our own pockets. Any amount that you can donate would help us to reach our goal to fund this important trip.
Breakdown of Costs:
$2200 covers the cost of lodging in a university dorm as well as simple meals in the attached dining hall for 14 days. It also pays for transportation to and from interviews, visits to churches, mosques and NGOs, and cultural excursions. It will also contribute to a small honorarium for University of Botswana faculty who provide an orientation on Botswana life and society.
About Us:
The Mormon Women's Oral History Project seeks to empower Mormon women to tell their stories and create an historical archive to preserve and perpetuate their voices and memories. Find out more about us at www.mormonwomenohp.org.
"If we want to live forever in the minds and annals of the earth, if we want other women to be represented in the future, we have to leave a record."
