Raccoonravine- Sanctuary

Hi! My name is Brenda and I’m a moderator on Tik Tok for SANCTUARY - that provides a safe place for wildlife.

We need your help to SAVE the home as new wildlife flourishes in a once desolate area. The roof is damaged badly and will not make it through the season!

Located in a remote swamp area where neighbors are few and in between. Every night possums, skunks and raccoons, geese, owls, even a bald eagle lives nearby- all join in to eat together in peace. It’s a sight to see! How different species can all get along and share their meal. They even love treats such as marshmallows, pumpkin, moonpies, and cereal along with the high protein dog food they munch on.

Throughout this last year I have been happy to become part of the community who enjoy watching the interactions between all the animals who eat together. Many have special stories- such a Dogface the raccoon. ❤️ Yes, Dogface is his name! He will be 9 years old in April. He is loved and adored by many- he is is true survivor. Dogface lost his paw in an illegally built steel trap. The homeowner- we call her Swamp Momma- or Momma-, she would give antibiotics to him in the marshmallows she would toss on the porch. It saved his paw- and now he visits every night for his marshmallows! It was the beginning of something special for all to see. Most raccoons, skunks, possums and kitties have names! Each have a unique personality. And many are currently pregnant! Which is wonderful news for a place where wildlife was sparse.

BUT… here is where the story where they and the homeowners may have a sad ending…

Swamp Momma and dad give Raccoonravine such a beautiful safe space to both people and wildlife- but unfortunately, they may need to sell their home if their damaged roof isn’t fixed. They do not have the entire funds to fix it. If they sell, all of the new wildlife that visit will then be in ⚠️ Danger!!!

ACROSS THE STREET is where the US fish and wildlife have set up hunting and poaching grounds on this newly purchased land. Unfortunately, this isn’t an ideal location for just any homeowner- but it fits well with Swamp Mom and dad. They have dedicated a safe place for wildlife, as well as a safe place for those of us nightly viewers who tune it to see the unique wildlife all getting along.

I will close on this- the roof is urgently needed as it has been damaged by storms and high winds. Insurance will not cover the cost. The thought of my newfound friends- the homeowners- and the sweet fur babies not having a home is heartbreaking.
