Our beloved Maxwell McElrath

Hello, my name is Mya McElrath. It is with overwhelming sadness I announce the passing of my brother, Maxwell McElrath. I am raising money for his funeral and memorial costs on behalf of our family.

Max was surrounded by so much love from the day he was born on April, 29, 2005. He was a joy to us all and the kindest soul. Max was the most laid back person. You could trust him with anything. As siblings, we loved each other deeply. He was and always will be my best friend. It feels strange and raw that he is no longer here. We used to joke that he was my first child and in a way that is true. My mother and grandmother as well as the rest of our family are absolutely devastated.

My brother’s passions included music, video gaming, animals, skateboarding and art. He had just passed his temps test and planned to get his drivers license. Max was on the road to graduating from Centerville Highschool. He was recently thinking about what he would like to be gifted for his upcoming 19th birthday.

Unfortunately, Max was too good for this Earth, and after a long battle with depression and many efforts to stay with us, he ultimately made his way to his next journey in the early hours of Monday, April, 15th. Max survived our mom Brandy, Mammaw Janet, his niece Aurora, and myself.

As we come to terms with this tragedy, we are also faced with the daunting task of funeral expenses, memorial, service fees, and burial costs. I am asking for help to lay my brother to rest and to give those who were touched by him the opportunity to pay their respects. We understand not everyone is in the position to donate, but there are other ways you can help. Please consider sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and community.
